Khalsa Tri-Shatabdi Government Post Graduate College, Ratia, established in 1999 on the historic occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Khalsa, is one of the renowned institutions of higher education in Haryana. Since its inception, the college has been committed to academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and holistic development of students. At present, the college runs undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, and postgraduate courses in English and Punjabi.
Under the able guidance of Dr. Sumitra Sangwan, the college is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, creativity, moral values, and social responsibility among students. Over the years, the college has built a reputation not only for academic distinction but also for its active participation in cultural, social, and extracurricular domains. The alumni of this college are serving at reputed positions in universities, colleges, government departments, and various professional fields.
During the session, various departments and societies of the college organized meaningful academic and cultural activities. The Department of Chemistry under Dr. Virender Kumar held science exhibitions and practical activities where students displayed innovative projects, thereby enhancing scientific temper and research aptitude.
The Punjabi Department under Dr. Birbal Singh successfully organized an International Conference on Diaspora Studies in which eminent scholars from India and abroad presented their research. The English Society led by Sh. Pardeep Singh conducted quiz contest, essay-writing, poetry recitation, and debate competitions, while also focusing on literary appreciation and critical reading.
In Political Science, Sh. Krishan Lal guided students through activities such as Constitution Day celebrations, youth parliament sessions, and lectures on political thought and governance. The Geography Department under Sh. Parveen Kumar organized field visits and surveys to encourage practical learning. Mathematics activities led by Sh. Dinesh Kumar included quizzes, model-making competitions, and analytical reasoning workshops. Similarly, the Economics Department under Sh. Varun Kumar held seminars and debates on economic reforms, the annual budget, and global policies.
The Department of Hindi under Dr. Anil Kumar organized Hindi Diwas celebrations, poetry readings, and creative writing competitions, while the Department of History under Sh. Surinder conducted heritage walks, guest lectures, and educational tours. In Commerce, under the guidance of Dr. Sushil Kumar, students benefited from different activities like quiz contest and other development programs. Fine Arts activities, led by Ms. Kirti, provided a platform for poster-making, painting, and sculpture, while the Physics Department under Sh. Kapil Dev conducted demonstrations and talks on new scientific innovations.
Alongside academics, the college placed strong emphasis on cultural and sports activities. The Cultural Cell organized talent search programs where students participated in dance, drama, singing, and folk performances. The Sports Department successfully hosted athletic meets, volleyball, yoga sessions, and cricket matches, where students performed remarkably well and brought laurels to the college.
The college library continued to enrich the learning process with a wide collection of books, journals, newspapers, and magazines in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. Regular additions of new titles have helped both teachers and students to strengthen their academic and research interests.
The conveners of college societies for this session were Sh. Krishan Lal, Assistant Professor of Political Science, and Sh. Surinder, Assistant Professor of History, who coordinated and supervised the smooth functioning of different academic and cultural associations.
Khalsa Tri-Shatabdi Government Post Graduate College, Ratia, thus continues to stand as a vibrant hub of learning, culture, and overall development. With the dedication of its faculty and enthusiasm of students, the institution has achieved remarkable progress and is confidently moving towards even greater academic and cultural milestones in the years ahead.
